Thomas Doulben of Fetter Lane London Yeoman
Maketh Oath and Saith that on the thirteenth day August
last (this Deponent being then Prisoner in New Prison
Clerkenwell in the County of Middlesex on Artilcles
of the Peace) at or about the hour of Eleven at night this
Deponent then being in Bed and had so been two on
three hours when the above named Defendant Joseph
Brooks
< no role > was shewn into the Room where his Deponent
was in Bed and enquiring who lay in the Bed where
this Deponent lay the said Joseph Brooks< no role > was
informed by another Prisoner that it was a Jew
whereupon the said Joseph Brooks< no role > say'd that of he
(meaning this Deponent) was Jew he wou'd kill
him thereupon on other Prisoner say'd that this
Deponent was a Lawyer upon which the said Joseph
Brooks
< no role > Say'd that if he (meaning this Deponent) is
a Lawyer I will kill him for they are all Theives
and Rogues that he (meaning this Deponent) should
do on further mischief Whereupon the said Joseph
Brooks
< no role > without the least provocation or even being
spoke to by this Deponent took him this Deponent by
the left Arm and dragged him out of Bed and pressed
this Deponents Body Violently against the edge of
a Bedsted whereby one of this Deponent Ribs on the
left side of his Body was broke and that this Deponent
was in Great pain of Body for a log space of time And
this Deponent further Saith that he hath heard and
