Touching the Settlement
of Hannah Sandling< no role >
Singlewoman ,

Brief for the Appllants.

Examination

Saith, that about four Years ago she quitted the Service of Mr John Kenworthy< no role > , a
Linen Draper , with whom she lived, one whole Year and upwards, as a yearly hired Servant -
in Ironmonger Lane in the Parish of Saint Martin in Ironmonger Lane , in the City of London ,
and gained no subsequent Settlement.

Case
who is Conson & having this Girl to guird her own Boy, had Mrs Ken [..] Instant to take Care of
Hannah Sandling< no role > , the Pauper ; was hired, by Mrs Kenworthy, for Mrs Davis; after she was so
hited, she went to Mrs Davis's of Hornsey lived with her about nine Months, and took care
of her Child. during which Time she bedded, bearded, and lodged with Mrs Davis, and had no
Concern with Mrs. Kenworthy, until after the Expiration of the nine Months, which was in
October 1781, when she was hired by Mrs Kenworthy, and lived with her till the Whitsuntide
following, at which Time she was discharged, for being a Thief.Mrs Davis will prove
her to have been her Servant Nine Months,-Mrs Chantler, School-Misstress to Mr
Kenworthy's Son, who was on a Visit at his House in the Whitsunside Holy days, will prove
the Pauper was turned away then, for the Reason before assigned. The Pauper
may swear she was hired by Mrs Kenworthy;- but it was for Mr Davis;- She may likewise
swear, she received Wages of Mrs Kenworthy;- but on examining her, it will appear, she never
had any Money, only some Clothes from Mrs Kenworthy;- To this Mrs Davis will swear,
that when Mrs Kenworthy paid her for the Nursing her Child, she, always accounted and paid
for the Cloaths the Pauper had of her.-In this the Pauper,s Art and Cunning plainly comes
out; she wants to unite the nine Months she was Mrs Davis's Servant, to the eight Months
she was Mrs Kenworthy's Servant; but Mrs Davis's and Mrs Chantler's Evidence will
entirely set her's aside, and clearby shew the Truth.

I have seen the Pauper this Afternoon, and
I can plainly perceive some ill will towards her Mistress, and that she is
determined to stick to her Beird of being Mrs Kenworthy's Servant all the
time.

We are deprided of Mr And Mrs Kenworthy's
Testimony, they being Parishioners, otherwise, the Matter would be [..]
up in a MomentPlease to will

Mrs Davis (the Nurse
Mrs Chartlet School mistress
&
Mr. Kensworthy's
Servants.
