That it appears by the Oath of the said Samuel
Newport
< no role > that there has been discharged by Proclamation under the
said Act Parliament at the Several Goal deliveries of New Prison
Clerkenwell from April Session 1783 to April Session 1785 both
Session included 431 Prisoners which at the rate of 5s,,6d. each
Prisoner amounts to £118..10..6. That 42 out of that Number only
were not liable to be indicted which being deducted reduces the
Number of Prisoners liable to be indicted to 389 which at the
rate aforesaid amounts to £106..9s..6d

That Your Committee are of Opinion that the
Said Samuel Newport< no role > has a just Claim on the County in respect
thereof and therefore that the said Samuel Newport< no role > ought either
to be permitted to receive the same of the Treasurer of this County or to have some Yarly or
other Compensation made to him in lien thereof and of Fees of the
like kind to arise in future.
