Rest of the Justices of the said Court
The Report of the Comittee appointed to Enquire into the
Practice of the Justices of the Peace
for the said City and Liberty
Sheweth
That your Comittee Pursuant to the Annexed Order met
at the Guildhall
in King Street
Westminster Agreable to a
Summons for that Purpose' and Proceeded to take into Consideration
Sundry Infromations laid before your Committee,
Mr. Power Deputy Clerk of the Peace having informed this
Committee that "Mr. John Haines< no role >
of Great Chapel Street
hath not
yet called on him to Shew him his Name in the last Commission
or the Private letter respecting that Matter" according to the purport
of his letter Dated 15th. Novr. 1784-It is therefore Ordered
that said Mr Haines be Requested to Attend this Committee forthwith
in Order to Shew he is duly Authorized and Impowered to Act as
a Justice of the Peace
for the said City and Liberty
Mr. Haines Attended the Comittee this Sixth day of January
1785. On being Asked whether he ever lived in Bedford Row
Answered in the Negative-Refused to give any Satisfaction
Respecting his being the John Haines< no role >
Named in the Comission
said he had some Vouchers at home which his Council
Advised him not to Produce to this Comittee
The Comittee Proceeded further to Investigate the matter
of the said Representation, and from certain Documents produced
to them are Perfectly Satisfyed He is not the John Haines< no role >
named
in the Comission Etc
