The Affidavit of Thomas Hattersley< no role > of the
Parish of Saint Mary White Chapel in the said
County of Middlesex Merchant and Thomas
Waller
< no role > Master of the good Sloop or vessel called
the Hardwick of the Burthen of One hundred and
thirty tons or thereabouts in respect to the Loss of
Salt part of the Burthen of the said Vessel at
Sea by Storm.

Thomas Hattersley< no role > of the Parish of Saint Mary White
Chapel in the said County of Middlesex Merchant and
Thomas Waller< no role > Master of the good Sloop or vessel called the
Hardwick aforesaid do severally upon their Oath depose
and swear and first the said Thomas Waller< no role > deposeth and
saith that the said sloop or vessel did on or about the first
day of March last set sail from Liverpool laden with One
hundred and three tons of Salt or thereabouts bound to London
being at that time right and strong and in every respect well
fitted and provided for the voyage that in the course of the
passage the said vessel encountered a great deal of stormy and
tempestuous Weather and that there wasbyin consequence of
the said stormy and tempestuous Weather a Loss of One hundred
and eighty one Bushels of Salt part of the Cargo or Burthen of the
said sloop or vessel and that the said Loss was occasioned
altogether by means of the said stormy and tempestuous Weather
and not by any Leak age of the said ship or vessel or any negligence
or default in him the said Deponent or any of the Mariners
belonging to the said ship And the said Thomas Hattersley< no role > for
himself saith that the One hundred and eighty one Bushels of Salt
which which the said ship or vessel was laden was shift and
consigned to him by the firm and description of Stephens and
Hattersley as the property of him the said John stephens< no role > and Thomas
Hattersley
< no role > and that the legal duties thereon imposed have been duly
paid and that the said Salt was lost as aforesaid to the best of
this Deponents knowledge and belief

Quarter Session of the peace held for the
County of Middlesex at [..] the Session
house for the said County (by adjournmt.)
on Tuesday the 29th. day of April 1783}
