Sir
I am Ordered by the Court of Quarter Session to inform
you that on the County day of last Session a Paper was produced by the
Chairman purporting to be an Account of Monies laid out in several
County works done under your Direction and a charge of five
per Cent thereon amounting to upwards of Two Hundred Pounds
in the said paper said to havewhich you say hasbeen owing to you ever since the year 1767 and
that the same paper was thenwastaken into Consideration. When the Justices
not being able to find by any Order or minute in the Books of the
Court nor to recollectofthat you were ever employed by them in
the Capacity of a Surveyor but on the contrary conceiving that
the Services you have done the County were voluntary and in
every sense of the word dissinterested were of Opinion not to allow
