The King on the Prosecution of Catherine O'Neal< no role > Spinster
agt.
Thomas Jones< no role > of the Parish of St. Giles in the Fields Yeoman , and
Peter Le Roach< no role > of the same Place Yeoman

Assault .

The Indictment charges that the Prisoners Thomas Jones< no role > and Peter Le Roach< no role > (who is now in Custody)
without Bail) made an Assault on the Prosecutrix on Tuesday the 20th. July last, and that Prisoner Thomas
Jones
< no role > struck the Prosecutrix two or three Blows, but was prevented from doing any further Harm by the
under named Witnesses

Case.

That on Tuesday 20th. July last the Prisoner Peter Le Roach< no role > (now in Custody) and his Brother came to
Mr. John Wright< no role > 's the Crown Ale house the Corner of Hog Lane near Oxford Street about half an Hour
past Eight o'Clock in the Evening and called for some Porter, and had two Potts which they paid for, and
soon after the Prisoner Jones (who is out in Bail) and three more came in and called for five
Shillings worth of Punch, which was made for them, and they staid in the House and drank the
same, which was about half after ten, Mr. Wright was in Bed, but his Wife sent the Prosecutrix to
the Prisoners for her Reckoning, and they say'd, they wod. not pay her the Prosecutrix, but told her to
send in her Mistress, who went in and Jones say'd he wod. pay the reckoning The Mistress sent in a
few Minutes afterwards and [..] desired some of the Glasses to be taken away which was
done, and a few Minutes afterwards the Prosecutrix went again into the Room for the Reckoning, when
the Prisoners (and four others not taken) had pushed up the Windows that were shut down and fasten'd for
the Night, and made their Escape without paying the Reckoning.

Soon after in a few Minutes the Mistress of the House went to the Door, and the Prisoner Jones and
Le Roach came there, (and the Evidence Edward say'd he saw the Prisoner Jones, Le Roach and
some others, come out of the Window, and that Jones, came back and broke the Windows of Mr. Wright's
Parlour (upon which Jones (Le Roach standing by say'd what do's she want) and imediately struck the
Prosecutrix two or three violent Blows, and wod. have beat her more but was prevented by the Evidences
Palmer, Tomlyn andNB. Le Roach did not strike, and has been in Custody more
than a Month.
