The Examination of John Mathews< no role >
a Rogne & Vagabond being found Wandring
and begging in the Parish of St Ann in
the said City & liberty taken before me
one of his Majestys Justices of the
peace for the said County City & Liberty

This Examt. being on Oath said That he is a
Native of Ireland & came from thence about
twenty Seven Years ago and saith that above
two or three Months after his County into
England he was hired to & lived with Robt.
Now

Yearly servt. at his County house called
Goswell hall in the Parish of Hasted in
the County of Essex at the [..] Wages of fifteen
pounds P Ann & continued to live with heirs
for seven Years & was discharged at the sd.
House And this Examt farther saith that
he never rented any home Landa or Tened
or ever lived a hired servt . ( [..] since he
discharged from Lord Clares as afsd. or ever
gained any Subsequent Settlement
to the best of his knowledge or belief
