At the General Session of the Peace of our Lord the King holden for the County
of Middlesex at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street in the said County (by Adjournment)
on Thursday the Tenth day of September in the Seventh year of the Reign of our
Sovereign Lord George the Third King of Great Britain Etc Before John Hawkins< no role >
Thomas Lane< no role > , Benjamin Cowley< no role > , Thomas Niccoll< no role > Esquires and others their Fellows
Justices of our said Lord the King Assigned to keep the Peace in the County
aforesaid and also to hear and determine diverse Felonies Trespasses and
other Misdemeanours committed in the same County.

Whereas Richard Saunders< no role > of Shenley Hill in the County of Hertford Gentleman Hath
at this present Session Exhibited His Humble Petition Settingforth That by an Order under the
hands and Seals of John Brettell< no role > and Elisha Biscoe< no role > Esquires Two of his Majestys Justices
of the Peace in and for the County of Middlesex , Inhabiting in or next unto the Limits of
the Parish Church of the Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn in the City of London and County of
Middlesex aforesaid (one where of being of the Quorum) bearing date the 1st. day of September
1767 They the said John Brettell< no role > and Elisha Biscoe< no role > Did Adjudge him the said Richard
Saunders
< no role > to be the Putative Father of a Male Bastard Child begot on the body of Jane
Humfreys
< no role > Singlewoman and born in the said part of the said Parish of Saint Andrew
Holborn which lies above the Bars and which said Child was baptized by the Name
of William< no role > and was chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn which
lies above the Bars from the time of his Birth to the time of his Death which happened
on Monday the 31st. day of August last And did Order and appoint him the said
Richard Saunders< no role > forthwith upon Notice of the aforesaid Order to pay or cause to be paid
to the Overseers of the Poor of that part of the aforesaid Parish of Saint Andrew Holborn
which lies above the Bars or to some or one of them the Sum of Nine pounds of lawfull
Money of Great Britain by them Expended for the Relief and Maintenance of the said
Male Bastard Child and for the Charges of the said Jane Humfreys lying in and for
other Expences attending the same Whereby the Petitioner thought himself Aggrieved
