The Smith of Goswell St . Sheriffs Officer-was at the
Recesin returning Home drank at the Red Lion wth. the deced
Mr. Hoole & Mr. Underwood till past & was one of the compn.
who tired & got into the Coach, dont know the No. but shd.. know
the Coachman-That in abt. 6 or 7. minutes after the Coachmen
was called to stop by four Men or they wchf how his Brains out
he stopt-One of the bush cams up to the Witness & put a Pester
to his Breast & demanded their Money-there were four in
compn-by their Brogus he took them to be fresh-but it
being a dark rainy night thinks he shd. not know them that
the deced declared wt. not to robbd: & he was instantly that lead
That in getting out of the coach in ordr. to Size the follow who
shot the deced he was knock'd down wth. the but end of wt. he
Thinks a Pistol-was witness & carried to the White Horse
near.
