At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our Lord the king began and
holden for the County of Middlesex at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street in the said County
On Monday the Thirteeth day of June in the Sixth year of the Reign of our Sovereign
Lord George the Third King of Great Britain Etc and from thence Adjourned by
several Adjournments until Friday the Eleventh day of July following Before
Benjamin Cowley< no role > John Spencer Colepeper< no role > , Cadwallader Coker< no role > , James Esdaile< no role > Esquires
and others their Fellows Justices of our said Lord the King Assigned to keep the
Peace in the County aforesaid and also to hear and determine divers Felonies
Trespasses and other misdemeanours committed in the same County.

Whereas William Cherry< no role > of Spittal fields Butcher Did at the last General Session of
the Peace held for this County on Monday the Thirteenth day of May last Exhibit his
Petition Settingforth That by Indenture dated the Thirteenth day of December 1763 in
Consideration of Sixteen pounds Sixteen shillings Antrum Allen became bound an
Apprentice to the Petitioner in his Trade of a Butcher for the Term of Seven years That
the Petitioner has in all things performed his part of the Covenants and Conditions in the
said Indenture contained but his Apprentice disregarding the best of usage from the
Petitioner about the Eleventh day of February last Absconded from the Petitioner and
Refused to be any longer his Apprentice or any ways under his controut That the
Petitioner about a month ago took his said Apprentice up with a Warrant and carryed
him before a Majistrate for his said Offence when he was committed to Bridewell but
afterwards Bailed out That the said Antrum (as the Petitioner's informed) has since
Entred into businss for himself or in partnership with another Butcher and putts the
Petitioner wholly at Detyance and refused to return to his Duty Whereby the Petitioner
was greatly Injured And praying relief in the Premisses and that the Court would
compell the said apprentice to return to his said Service Which said Petition was duly
Adjourned unto this present Session and came on to be heard on Friday the Fourth day of
July instant when the same was then further Adjourned till this day Now upon further
hearing of the said Petition and also of a Petition of the said Antrum Allen< no role > to this Court
Setting forth that the Petitioner by Indenture dated the Thirteenth day of December 1763
became bound apprentice to the said William Cherry< no role > for Seven years and his Father
Paid Sixteen pounds Sixteen shillings as an Apprentice Fee That the Petitioner had
received very cruel Usage from his said Master being fed with Bits and Scraps the
Refuse from the Rates of his Family and the said Mr. Cherry has often beat and Kicked
the Petitioner and had not instructed him in the business of a Butcher but Obliged him to
carry Loads which he was scarse able to bear and which he did with great pain That
the Petitioner was Obliged to Submitt himself to the direction of the Son of the said Mr
William Cherry< no role > who is a Youth of about Sixteen Years of Age and has been ill used by
him also That in February 1766 (and not before) the Master Mr. Cherry paid the
Duty at the Stamp Office and Prior to that consented to discharge the Petitioner and
Delivered to him his Cloaths and wished him well to do which the Petitioner looked on as an
absolute
