To the Constables & Headboroughs within
the Parish of St. James Clerkenwell .

Whereas Complaint on Oath hath been made unto Us and
others His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of
Middx acting for the Division of Finsbury by Benjamin
Long
< no role > & Thomas Chadley< no role > Scavengers of the parish of St.
James Clerkenwell within the said County & Division that
the several Persons named in the Within List have
refused and neglected to pay the several Sums
respectively set against their Names & Assessed upon
them & demanded by the said Scavengers by virtue
of a Rate made for cleansing the Streets & Lanes
in the said Parish and carrying away the Dust Dirt
and Ashes Filth & Soil and other like purposes within
the same Parish whereof they are Severally Inhabitants
and they have been thereupon duly Summon'd to Appear before Us
at a certain Day now past to Answer the said Complaint
And to shew cause why the said Arrears should not
be levied As appears to Us by the Oath of Edward

have shewn any Cause in excuse of their Defaults
These are therefore to Command you that you on
some of you do upon sight hereof levy the said
several Sums by distress and Sale of the Goods and
Chattek of the said Defaulters respectively
And Certify to Usthein what manner you shall
have executed this our Warrant Given under our
Hands & Seals at Hicks Hall the 18th. Day of June 1766.
