Middlesex


At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our Sovereign Lord the
King holden for the County of Middlesex at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street
in the said County (by Adjournment) On Thursday the Eighteenth day of
April in the Fifth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third
King of Great Britain Etc Before Thomas Lane< no role > George Errington< no role > Saunders
Welch
< no role > Benjamin Cowley< no role > Esquires and others their Fellows Justices of our said
Lord the King Assigned to keep the Peace in the County aforesaid and also to
hear and Determine divers Felonies Trespasses and other Misdemeanours
committed in the same County

Whereas the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Saint John at
Hackney in the County of Middlesex Did at the last General Session of the Peace held in
February last Exhibit their Petition and Appeal Setting forth That by Virtue of a Warrant
or Order of Removal under the Hands and Seals of Stephen Clarke< no role > and John Cox< no role > Esquires
Two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex bearing date the
Fourth day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty five
Ann Collins< no role > wife of Joseph Collins< no role > (who is gone away and not to be found) with her two
Children by her said Husband (Vizt.) William< no role > aged almost two years and Joseph< no role > aged
about nine Months were removed from the Parish of Saint Panerass in the said County
to the said Parish of Saint John at Hackney as the place of their last legal Settlement
Whereby the Petitioners thought themselves aggrieved Which said Appeal was duly
adjourned unto this day Now upon hearing of the said Appeal and what hath been
alledged on either side by the respective Churchwardens and Overseers their Council and
Witnesses in and concerning the Premisses It is Ordered that the said Appeal be and the
same is here by allowed And the said Warrant or Order of removal of the said Two Justices
is hereby Quashed and Vacated And it is further Ordered that the Churchwardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint John at Hackney or some or one of
them Do forthwith Convey and Deliver back the said Poor woman and her two Children,
(together with a Copy of his Order) unto the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
said Parish of Saint Panecrass or to some or one of them who are here by required to
receive and Provide for the said Poor woman and her two Children until they can
Free themselves from the Charge there of by due Course of law And it is also
Further Ordered that the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish
of Saint Panerass Do forthwith Pay or cause to be Paid to the Churchwardens and
Overseers of the poor of the said Parish of Saint John at Hackney the Sum of
nineteen shillings and Six pence for their Charges and Expences in relieving and
maintaining the said Poor woman and her Two Children since their removal.
