Whereas We have received information that Multidudes of Disorderly Persons
have of late Frequently Assembled on the Sabbath days and other Holydays in the Fields
of Islington and in Moor field as well for unlawfull pastimes Plays and sports as
to Fight Whereby many unlawfull assemblies Riots and Affrays have been committed
in Violation of the Peace and to the Terror of His Majestys Peaceable Subjects
Residing and passing there abouts and to the Scandal and reporach of Government
We therefore stricitly enjoin and command your the said High constable in the Kings
name (taking to your assistance the Petty Constables and Head boroughs within your
Division or such and so many of them as you shall think necessary who are hereby
required on Notice for that purpose to Attend and Assist you from time to time) to go
to the said places where such disorders may be on Sunday next and on every other
Sunday and Holy days at proper times and to use your almost Endeavours to
Prevent or suppress all such unlawfull Assmblies Riots Tumults afrays and other
Disorders and to bring the offenders whom you shall there find before us and other His
Majestys Justices of the Peace of the said County from time to time to be dealt with
according to law and We further more require all his Majestys Subjects who shall
happen to be present on any such Occasion to be Aiding and assisting to you the said
High Constable as they will answer the Contrary and the consequences of then
neglect at their Peril Given at Hicks Hall the 29th. day of March 1765.
