To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor, of the Parish
of St. James Clerkenwell in the County of Middx and also to All
Constables & Headboroughs within the same Parish especially
to John Thorpe< no role >

We Whose names & Seals are hereunto set being two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace of [..] the County of Middx residg and acting in the Division of Finishing and Dwelling or parish sd parish
one of us being of the Quorums having received the Complaint of you the said Churchwardens
& Overseers of the Poor that the several of the Inhabitants & Occupiers
of Houses Lands & other Ratable Finemts.residing hiswithin your said Parish residing in that paltor of the sd Par [..] the upper sidewhose names are contained in the Schedule hereunto Annexed have
defused & made Default and still do refuse to pay on contribute the Sums of Money
respectively Rated and Assessedbyupon them by a certain Rate made
in pursuance of the Statutes in that case provided which Sums
an set down agt. then, respective Names. Notwithstanding the said
Sums have beenseveral timesduly Demanded the said Complaint being
verified by Oath Do hereby Authorize require and comand you the
said Churchwardens & Overseers and also you & every of you the said Constables
and Headboros. forthwith to warn and Sumon each and every of the
said Defaulters to appear personally before Us and others our
Fellows Justices acting & Dwelling as afd. At Hicks Hall in St John Street
in the Parish of St. Sepulchre in the sd County (being the next adjorning Parish to Your sd.
paron Wednesdaynext being the 20th. Day of this Instant June
by eleven of the Clock in the Morng forenoon to shew cause if any
they haveor either of them hathwhy they so refuse to pay and
contribute the sums charged & taxed upon them respectively
AndwhAnd give them further Notice that if they do not appear
and shew sufficient Cause as afd. the several Sumes from them
respectivelydue will be Lesied upon their respective Goods and
for [..] defect ofsufficient Goodssuch distress they will be comitted to His Majesty's Gaol of Newgate being the Comer Gaol
