in the County of Berks}


The Information of Hugh Savile< no role > a Private Soldier in the
Third or Kings own Regiment of Dragoons Commanded
by the Right Honourable The Earl of Albermarle and
in the Troop commanded by Colonel Dalrymple Lieutenant
Colonel of the said Regiment Taken an Oath this Twenty
first day of November in the Year of our Lord 1761
Before us two of his Majesty's Justices of the peace for
the said Town of Maidenhead

This Informant on his Oath saith that he believes and is Informed
that one Thomas Aston< no role > a Private Soldier in the fourth Regiment of
Dragoons Commanded by Field Marshall Sir Robert Rich< no role > Barronet
and in the Troop commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Samuel
Browne
< no role > Major of the said Regiment was on Monday last Committed
to the County Goale at Reading in and for the said County of Berks
upon a Strong Suspicion of Assaulting one Thomas Poulton< no role > a
Waggoner upon the Kings Highway at a place called Butchers Grove
between the two last Hounslow Heaths in the County of Middlesex
that Morning about four O Clock and taking from him the said
Thomas Poulton< no role > against his Will a Canvas Bag containing in it
Fifty Shillings and Upwards in Silver Coin and this Informant
further on his Oath saith that on Monday Morning last about Ten
O Clock he this Informant was in the Kitchen of the Bull Inn in
the Town of Maidenhead aforesaid when a Soldier belonging to Sir
Robert Rich< no role > 's Dragoons (whose Name this Informant has since
heard and believes to be the said Thomas Aston< no role > ) came into the
said Kitchen belonging to the said Inn and called for a Pott of Beer
and he pulled out a Bag or purse which this Informant could not
then Distinguish and took Six pence out of it in order to pay the Landlady
for the same and saw the Landlady whose name this Informant
believes to be Mary Daffern< no role > Widow) Scruple the same upon which he
said that he would give her another or change it And the Land lady
