Waitor to Mr. Roberts at the Ben
Johnson in Russell Street Covent
Garden

Who being upon Oath says that on Saturday Night last
a Person now present who calls himself Stephen Dane< no role >
was at his said Master's House, between the hours of
10 and 11 at which time a Person now present who
calls himself Eastgate was present in thesaidsame
Room with the said Dane, and that he observed a
Quarrell to arise between the said Mr. Dane and said
Mr. Eastgate about a Girl which was Company wh
Mr. Eastgate from the said Dane's insisting of taking
her from him, says that soon after there was an Affray
in the House and Fighting with Sticks, and that he
afterwards saw the said Mr. Dane upon the Stairs
with a Drawn Sword in one hand and a Stick in the other
and heard him say Damr 'emlet 'em come forward
we are enough for them, or words to that Effect, & says
that a Person now present who calls himself Priestly
was in Company with said Dane the same Evening but that he rather
appeared to be Peacible, nor did he see him strike
may Person or give any Offence, says that a Poker was
given into this Informt. hand that Night & was Fetched away
this day by Mr. Scott said
