WHEREAS Complaint hath been made by you the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the
said Parish of Saint John of Wapping
unto us whose Hands and Seals are
hereunto set, two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace (where-
of one is of the Quorum) for the County afore-
said, that Ann Elliott< no role > Widow of Edward Elliott< no role > Deceased
and her three Children (to wit) Edward < no role > Aged about
Six Years Mary < no role > Aged near three Years and Martha < no role >
Aged about Ten Months have
lately intruded into your said Parish of Saint John of Wapping

there to inhabit as Parishioner s contrary to the Laws relating to
the Settlement of the Poor, and are therelikely tobecome char-
geable, [..] AND WHEREAS, upon due
Examination and Enquiry made into the Premisses, upon the
Oath of the said Ann Elliott< no role > and other Circumstances

it appears unto Us, and we accordingly adjudge, that the said
Ann Elliott< no role > and her said three Children are

like to become chargeable unto the said Parish of Saint John
of Wapping and that the last legal Place of
Settlement of the said Ann Elliott< no role > and here three
Children is in the saidParish of
Precinct of Saint Catherines

THESE are therefore in his Majesty's Name, to order and re-
quire you the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the Parish of Saint John of Wapping aforesaid, that you
or some of you, do forthwith remove and convey the said Ann
Elliott< no role > and hered three Children
from your said Parish of Saint
John of Wapping to the saidParish of Precinct
of Saint Catherines and them to deliver
to theChurchwardens andOverseers of the Poor there, or some
or one of them, together with this our Warrant or Order, or a
true Copy hereof; whereby they are likewise required, in his
Majesty's Name, and by Virtue of the Statutes in such Case
made, forthwith to receive the said Ann Elliott< no role > and her said
three Children

into their said Precinct and provide for them
as their own Parishioner s GIVEN under our Hands and Seals the
13th Day of November in the Year of our
Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty
