get out of the way they would both be hanged or used words to that effect and bid him
go as fast as he could and let them know it & accordingly the said James Wright< no role > hasted
away whereupon the said Defendant Wright and his wife absconded and Still keep out
of the way as this Deponent hath heard & beleives And this Deponent John Briston< no role >
for himself saith that sometime in the month of August one thousand seven hundred
fifty two one Mr. Lister came to this Deponent and told him that he beleived one office this
Deponents Men had robbed him of some pott metal and that one Mr. Tuck (meaning the sd.
Thomas Tuck< no role > ) had stopped the same on suspicion of its being stolen Whereupon he this
Deponent soon afterwards went to the said Mr. Tuck who shewed him a piece of pott
Metal which he told this Deponent had been sent him by the defendant Pentherer and
which he had stopped on suspicion of being stolen and this Deponent saith he is certain
that the same piece of pott metal was the property of him this Deponent, And this
Deponent saith that a day or two before, he the said David Wright< no role > (who had been
sometime servant to him this Deponent) suddenly absconded & left this Deponents
service and this Deponent having great reason to suspect the said David Wright< no role >
had stolen the said pott metal he this Deponent in June Session last preferred and
found a bill of Indictment against the said David Wright< no role > for stealing the said
metal and also against the said defendant Pentherer for feloniously receiving the same
knowing it to have been stolen And this deponent further saith that since the said last
session he this Deponent hath used his utmost endeavour to apprehend & take the said
defendant Wright but hath not been able to receive any Information or
intelligence concerning where he is but this Deponent hopes he shall be able to take
him before the next session and will use all his endeavours so to do.
