this Deponent denys that he admitted the Truth of any of the Charge
in the said Representation suggested Save as aforesaid And this
Deponent denys to his Knowledge or Belief that he hath ever

knowingly or wittingly done anything whatsoever inconsistent with
his Duty as a Justice of the Peace & therefore this Depont. cannot
but beleive that the Renewal of the said Complaint in January
Sessions last was owing to some Personal Pigne or Resentment
conceived against this Deponent by some or one of the Justices of the
Peace acting in that Division where this Depont. lives And this Depont.
further begs Leave to say that he was some of the first promoters &
Encouragers of the Manufacturing of the BritishSail Cloth

whereby many Thousands of Familys in this Nation for forty Years
past have been, supported & maintained & that he has fabricated
British Sail Cloth for the Government & others for these ten years
past to the amount upon a Medium of very near Ten Thousand
Pounds a Year third Parts whereof is paid for Labour & the
Labourers paid Weekly And that as his Circumstances are too [..]
to press him so his July [..] are good to prenit [..]
or mean but And he this Deponent persuades himself his Character

in General is such as will not induce the least Suspilion of his
Encouraging Vice Profaneness or Imorality for Lure or Interest or
any other Motive whatsoever lawing been an Inhabitant in the sd.
Parish upwards of Forty Eight Years & supported a good Character
All which he humbly submits to your Lordships Wisdom & Justice.
