To the Worshipfull his Majesties Justices of the Peace for the
County of Middlesex in their General Quarter Session of the Peace
Assembled

The Humble Petition of the Churchwardens &
Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Shadwill in
the said County of Middlesex

Sheweth


That on the twenty seventh day of January last
one Ann Bentley< no role > a Wanderer and Beggar was delivered of a
Male Child in the said Parish of Saint Paul Shadwell in the open
Street to which Parish she does not belong whereby she became
chargeable to the Same The Officers being obliged to take her & her
said Child into the Workhouse & provide & Midwise & other Necessaries
for her.

That the said Ann Bently< no role > Child dyed in the said Workhouse
on the Sixteenth day of this instant April 15 was buried at the Charge
of the said Parish

That Your Petitioners detained the said Ann Bentley< no role > in
Custody in their Said Workhouse from the said twenty seventh day
of January until the ninth day of this instant April by reason of her
being very Sick and Weak after her lying in & until She could Safely
be Conveyed to Some Justices of the Peace on which said Ninth day St
April the said Ann Bentley< no role > was conveyed before Walter Berry< no role > Esqr one of
his Majesties Justices of the peace for the said County pursuant to the
directions of the Act of Parliament made in the Seventeenth Year
of his present Majestys

That the legal Settlement of the said Ann Bentley< no role > is in the
Parish of Saint George in the said County of Middlesex as appears by
her examination taken on Oath before the said Walter Berry< no role > Esqr .

That by an Estimate of the expences hereunto annaxed the said
Parish of Saint Paul Shadwell have expended the Sum of Three Pounds
twelve Shillings and Six pence for the purposes herein before mentioned

Your Petitioners humbly Pray Your Worships to
Order the Treasurer of the said County to pay unto
them the said Sum of Three Pounds Twelve Shillings
and Six pence for the Charges they have been put at
upon the said Ann Bently< no role > 's Account or to grant unto
Your Petitioners Such Relief in the Premisses as to
Your Worships shall Sum Meet

And Your Petitioners will Pray Etc.
