The Voluntary Confession and Examination
of Patrick Hayes< no role > taken before me Henry
Fielding
< no role > Esqr . one of his Majesty's
Justices of the Peace for the County of
Middlesex this 4th. day of May 1749 .

This Examinant says, that some time in February last he
Lived as a Servant with Mrs. Jane Francis< no role > of Tottenham
Court , and Whilst he Lived there, he became acquainted
with Peter Murphy< no role > Thomas Clarke< no role > , Edward Kelley< no role > James
Wood
< no role > , Thomas Dollard< no role > , Luke Welsh< no role > , one that goes by
the Nick Name of King William and one who goes by the
Name of Lane Anthony, who used frequently to come to
this Examinant at his Mistress's house at Tottenham Court
aforesaid in order to Robb his Mistress (Mrs. Jane Francis's)
house Says that they desired this Examinant to acquaint them
when would be the preperest time to Robb the said house,
and in what manner to do it, Says that he refused their
proposalls several times, but at last agreed to meet them in
in a Publick house in St. Giles's Says that they mett
accordingly about Six of the Clock in the Evening in the said
Month of February and all went in Company to a Bone house
near Tottenham Court aforesaid, and Stayed there till three of
the Clock the next Morning from whence they proceeded
to the house of the said Mrs. Francis, Says that they waited
about the Door till the Servant Man of the said Mrs. Francis
came out to feed the Cows (this Examinant being discharged
from his said Mistress two or three days before) and when he
came out they laid hold of the Servant and Tyed him to a
Port with his own Garter, Says that this Examinant, Luke
Welsh
< no role > and Lame Anthony Stayed at the Door whils't the
rest broke open the Parlour Window and Entered the said
house, Says that they took from the said Servant Man
his Candle and Lanthorn by means of which they went
into serveral Rooms of the said house and feloniously took and
Carryed away about fourteen Shillings in Silver and some
other things.
