Middlesex to witt


Robert Brazier< no role > of Ratcliffe in the County of Middlesex
Gunsmith maketh Oath that the said Deft George Powell< no role > late of Retcliffe
aforesaid Mariner was Master or Comander of the Saltash Privateer of
London and in or a bont the Month of September One thousand Seven
hundred and forty seven sailed in the said Privateer from the Port of
London on a Cruize against his Majesties late Enemies the French and
Spaniards And this Deft: saith that the said Privateer with her said
Comander and Ships Company are and for some time past have been
generally beleived and esteemed to be all lost and this Deponent
further saith that within this Week past he hath made diligent
Enquiry of Christopher and John Huddy< no role > of Ratcliffe aforesaid
Merchants and also ofBigger of Leadenhall street
London Linendraper who new Owners of the said Priveteer and
hath been informed by them and verily beleives it to be true that
neither the said Privateer or any of her Crew have been heard of by
the said Owners or any other Person since the month of November
One thousand Seven hundred and forty seven and that they give
the said privateer over for lost and never expect to hear any
more of her or her said Crew
