Whereas Complaint hath been made by you the Church-Wardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish ofSt. James
unto us whole Hands
and Seals are hereunto set, two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
(Whereof one is of the Quorum) for theCity & Libty of Westminster
ThatMary< no role > the wife of Thomas Hicks< no role >
lately intrudedand comeinto your said Parish ofSd
James
there to inhabit as Parishioner contrary to the Laws relating to
the Settlement of the Poor, and [..] there like to become charge-
able, if not timely prevented: And Whereas. upon due Examinati-
on and Enquiry made into the Premises,and also upon
Oath
it appears unto us, and we acccordingly adjudge, that the said
Mary the wife of Thomas Bick< no role > is
Like to become chargeable unto the said Parish ofSt. James
and that the last legal Place of
Settlement of the saidMary the wife of Thomas Hick
is in the said Parish of
St. Clements Danes
There are therefore in his Majesty's Name to order and require you
the said Church- Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of
St James aforesaid, that you,
or some of you, do forthwith remove and convey the saidMary the
wife of Thomas Kick
from your said Parish ofSt. James
to the said Parish ofSt. Clements
Danesandherdeliver
to the Church- Wardens and Overseers of the Poor there, or some or
one of them, together with this our Warrant, or Order, or a true
Copy hereof; whereby they are likewise required in his Majesty's
Name, and by Virtue of the Statutes in such Case made, forthwith to
receive the saidMary the wife of Thomas Hick
into their saidparish haveand provide forher
as their own parishioner. Given under our Hands and Seals, the
firstDay of May in the Year of our
Lord One Thousand Seven- Hundred and thirty four
