Whereas, by an Order made at the Genll.
qrter. Sessions of the Peace held at Hicks hall
in St. John Street in and for the sd. County of
Middlx P Adjournmt. on Thursday the thirteenth
day of April last past upon reading the Humble
peticon of John Sparks< no role > petty Constable of the
parish of Endfield in this County then exhibited
into the said Court settingforth that Henry
Mackris
< no role > Gentleman prsent. High Constable of the
said parish who was then allowed Sixty pounds
per Annum for passing & Conveying of Vagrants
through the sd County, did not perform that
Service himselfe but employed another person
to do it for him; And that the Petr. John Sparks< no role >
had been formerly Employed in that Service, and
was so well acquainted wth. the Business, that he
would engage to perform the sume in as effec-
tual manner (as was then done by the said Henry
Mackris
< no role > ) for Forty pounds per Annum; and that
he would give Security for his Faithfull Discharge
of that Service And thereupon prayed to be appoint-
ted to convey the Vagrants through this County in
the room of the said Henry Mackris< no role > : And the said
Court then taking into Consideracon as well the
Matters contained in the said peticon as also a former
Controversy depending between the sd John Sparks< no role >
and the said Henry Mackris< no role > touching the Conveying
of Vagrants as aforesd, did Order the same to be
referred to his Majties. Justices of the peace for this
County residing wth. in the Hundrd. of Edmonton in the
said County to examine into the truth of the several
