Dis Indenture Witnesseth, ThatWilliam Whytlaw< no role >
Son of Charles Whytlaw< no role > of the Parish of Stepney in
the County of Middlesex Barber and Peruke maker
doth put himself Apprentice toWalter Hood< no role > of the Parish of
St. Clement Danes in the Sd. County peruke maker & Barber
to learn hisArt,and with him
(after the manner of an Apprentice) to serve from theday of the
date hereof
unto the full End and Term of SevenYears from thence
next following, to be fully compleat and ended. During which Term, the said Apprentice hissaid
Masterfaithfully shall serve, hisSecrets Keep, hislawful Commands every where gladly do:
he shall do no Damage to hissaid Masternor see to be done of others, but that he to his
Power shall lett or forthwith give Warning to his.said Masterof the same: he shall not waste
the Goods of hissaid Masternor lend them unlawfully; to any: he shall not play at Cards.
Dice, Tables, or any other unlawful Games, Whereby hissaid Mastermay have any loss.
With hisown Goods or others, during the said Term, without Licence of hissaid Master
he shall neither Buy nor Sell; he shall not haunt Taverns nor Play-houses, nor absent himself from
hissaid Master'sService Day nor Night unlawfully, but in all things, as a faithful Appren-
tice, he shall behave himSelf towards hissaid Masterand all hisduring the said Term.
And the said Masterin Consideration ofthe good will and affection which
[..] he hath for
him and his Parents and for no other consideration what soever
in the same Act and Mystery which he useth, by the best means that he can, shall reach and instruct,
or Cause to be taught and instructed; finding unto h said Apprentice Good and sufficient Men,
Drink,Washing and and Lodgingand all other necessaries
during the said Term.All manner of Apparell Excepted which the Sd. Charles
why shaw doth hereby for him [..] lf his Exors & Admors Covenont to find [..]
And for the Performance of all and every the said Covenants and Agreements, either
of the said Parties bindeth h self unto the other by these Presents. In Witness whereas
the parties above nam'd to these Indentures interchangeably have set their Hands and Seals, the
