1. What Persons shall be deemed to be Distreess, or to keep houses or Places of distilling
Strong waters within this Execution
2. What Persons Shall be adjudged to deale, more in other Goods than in Distill'd Liquors

And if the Justices are in theire Construccon of this Exception in either of those Points, & under
Such Enor Quarter Soldiers on persons not liable; They & the Constables are liable to accons.
which is c great Discomagement, & often attended with Delaises & Inconveniences to the
[..] to be Quartered, [..] as well as to those who Quarter them.

For Remedy of these Inconveinences Itt is propose
That in the next act for Quartering Soldiers The
Exception may be to the Effect following Vizt

Other than & except the House or houses of any Distillers , who keep houses Places
of distilling Brandy or Strong waters, & have fixed & Settup therein one or more Still or Stills
capable of distilling Gallons atleast of Strong waters [..] one time (or if thought more proper, w [..]
distill therein every [..] upon theire own Account the Quantity of Gallons or more of such Strong waters) [..]
who doe not Suffer Supling in theirehousesShops or houses And other [..]
& Except the house of any Shopkeeper , whose Principall dealings shall by [..]
more in other Goods & Merchandires than in Brandy & Strong waters, [..] who
doe not Permitt or suffer truling in his or theire Shops or houses, And who shell [..]
& Licence or [..] Licences under the Hands & [..] les of two or more Justices of [..]
Peace of the County Citty or Liberty wherein hee or they Shall dwell or keep such
Shop a houses, for the Selling of each Liquors by retaill in Such Shop or houses
And in [..] & in no [..] houses what soe [..] Etc

It these Amendmentsto this [..] are not thought Proper, this desird that the Exception
may be explaind [..] & more deerly worded, That the Justices [..]
[..] [..] able to Judge where & on whom to Quarter the Soldiers, That the Constables may be in comagd [..]
theire duty by the Se [..] they [..] find in the plans [..] res of the Law, & That the Soldiers [..]
be reced into the Quarters appointed them, without the delayes, & difficulties, wll, [..]
attend them,from the disputes ab [..] from the Co [..] & disputes about the true meaning of this Cause

These observacons & Amendments to the Exception in the Cause abovemenconed in the Act for
Quartering of Soldiers, are directed by the Justices of Middlesex in theire Quarter
Sessions [..] embled at Hicks hall on the 12th day of October 1721 [..] laid before the [..]
