Parish of St. James Clarkenwell
in the County afores'd
now a. poor Prisoner
in Woodstreet Compter
for Debts
Most Humbly Sheweth
That your poor Petitioner has a Wife
& three Small Children who are perishing for want, &
noe Bed to lye on but Straw, & nothing to cover their
Nakedness will but Raggs. & your Petitioner in a
very till State of healthy Occasion'd by the great
hardships he Suffers having nothing to support
himself wth, save the Prison allowance Bread & Water
& whereas the Church Wardens & Overseers of the poor
of the said Parish of St. James Clerkenwell make
paymts: to your Destre sold Petitioners Wife & Children
of two shill:gs. & six pence P week in such Manner
that they are almost starv'd & to Death.
Your Petitioner most humbly
bego your Worships Charity of that a better allowance
may be given during his Imprisonmt: from said
Parish
And your Petitioner & his
destress'd Wife & Children as
in Duty Bound shall Ever pray Etc
