Whereas due proof hath been made before us whose Names are
Subscribed Two of his Majesties Justices of ye. Peace for ye. County
and Liberty (Quor unus) Inhabiting in ye. Parish of St. James Westmr .
upon oath of Sarah Roberts< no role > Singlewoman Mother of a Male bastard
Child born on ye. nineteenth day of this Instant May in ye. said parish
of St. James's That one John Tyler< no role > of White Chappele Fallow
Chandler did begatt the Sd. Bastard Child on ye. body of the Said Sarah
Roberts
< no role > Wth. is become chargeable to the Sd. Parish as the Church
wardens and Overseers of the Poor there of have Complained,
Wee the Said Justices upon ye. Examination of ye. Said Sarah
Roberts
< no role > the Mather and other concerning Circumstances as
hereunto Moving do hereby adjudge and declare the Said John Tyler< no role >
to be the Reputed father of the Said Male Bastard Child
born of the body of the Said Sarah Roberts< no role > as aforesaid
and thereupon wee do order as well for the Relief and to
save Harmless, and keep Indemnified the Said Parish as
for the Maintaining and Keeping the Said Male Bastard
Child That he the Sd. John Tyler< no role > shall forthwith pay or
cause to be paid unto the Churchwardens, and Overseers of
the poor of the said Parish of St James's or to Some or one of
them the Sum of Eleven Shillings and Six pence by the
Wack for the first four weeks from the birth of the Said
Child, for and towards the Charges of the Laying and
Lying In of the Said Sarah Roberts< no role > , and after the Ex:
piration of the Said first four week the Said John Tyler< no role >
Shall likewise pay or cause to be paid, unto the Church:
wardens, and Overseers of the Poor of ye, Said parish
of St. James's or some or one of them, Weekly and every
week the Sum of two Shillings and Six pence of Lawfull
Money of Great Brittain, for and towards the Relief and
Maintenance of the Said Male Bastard Child so long as he
shall Remain Chargeable to the Said Parish of St James's
And Lastly weeks order that the Said John Tyler< no role > do
forthwith on Notice of this our order (a true Copy being deli:
ver'd to him) give Sufficient Security to the Churchwardens
and overseers of the Poor of the Said Parish of St. James's
for the Performance of this our order otherwise to find
Sufficient Securities for his personall appearance att
the next Genll. Quarter Sessions of the Peace to be hold for
the Cittgand Libertythe Convent of or Said, there to answer the Contempt
and to abide such further order as the Justices shall think
fitt there to male therein. Given under our hands and
Seals this 20th. of May 1717 .
