Whereas divers Headboroughs Beadles & others within the sevall
pishes & places in this County comprized with in the weekly Bills's of
mortality, who keep publick houses, have of late, after they had
apprhended & taken psons for offences done within this County
carried such offendrs to their own houses or places called [..]
houses in this County, & there kept them untill they have
spent great sums of money in eating drincking & lodgeing
& then released them without carrying them before a
Justice of the peace of this County And whereas the said
Headboroughs Beadles & others have often times carryed
Offenders to their own houses or Round houses after they have
been duly comitted to New prison & Bridewell in this County
for offences by them done; & kept them there untill they [..]
Spent all their money as above is menconed And for as [..]
complaint hath been made to this Court att this prsent
Sessions That divers Seamen & other psons fitt to serve his
Matie. in his Fleet doe shelter themselves in the houses of
the said Headboroughs & Beadles on purpose to protect [..]
themselves from being prest att this prsent time when his
Maties. affairs require them in his Service; to the Encouragemt.
off offenders & discourageing of his Maties. service, & of psecut [..]
against offenders, to the great standall of the Goverment, And
whereas divers ordrs. have been made by this Court hereto for [..]
for prventing the Said Irregularities & abuses which have
proved ineffectual For prvencon therefore of such like
mischeifes for the time to come Itt is now recomended by
this Court to all his Maties. Justices of the peace of this
County inhabiteing in the pishes & places in this County
within the weekly Bills of Mortality in their respective
Divisions to take care that noe pson that keeps a publick
Alehouse be for the future sworne before them into th [..]
