Gentlemen,
Having understood by verbal communication of Mr.
Stirling that you expected I shou'd myself discharge the whole duty of
attending the Prisons I have (though I had engaged an Assistant) to
my utter inconvenience and loss obeyed your commands. I can however
no longer continue to do so & therefore leg leave immediately to resign
situation as truly disgusting to my Feelings as injurious to my Interest
In all probability you are at no loss for a Person to succeed me as I am
well informed that previous to the Message I received the place had been
offered to a Gentleman
at Islington
. - Shou'd you be nevertheles
unprovided I dare say that Mr. Hayne long an Inhabitant of Clerkenwell
and who has attended with me for the last fortnight will do the business
till you shall be pleased either to appoint him or some other.

Resolved that the Resignation of Mr. Gibbes of his Office
of Surgeon
and Apothecary
to the said Prisons be accepted
A Motion was thereupon made that Jonathan Haynes< no role >
of Battle Bridge
Surgeon
and Apothecary
be appointed Surgeon and
Apothecary
to the New Prison
and Clerkenwell
Bridewell
in the room
of Mr. Thomas Gibbes< no role >
with the Salary of One Hundred Pounds per.
Annum for his Attendance and Medicines necessary and proper for the
Sick Prisoners and that he be paid his Salary Quarterly. (as the same
has been heretofore paid to Mr. Gibbes) and that the same do commence from
Monday the 18th. day of February Instant.
By Adjournment same day.
Ordered that the Appointment of a High Constable
for the Hundred
of Spelthorne
in this County be postponed until the next Session and that
the present High Constable have notice thereof.
