A Committee
appointed to inspect
plans & to proper
a plan for a House
of Correction etc.

It was moved That a Committee be appointed to inspect the Plans already
delivered in for the Consideration of the Sessions and to prepare a plan proper
for a House of Correction for this County on the Ground now agreed to be purchased
of Jervoise Clarke Jervoise< no role > Esqr . and others in Cold Bath Fields and that the
said Committee do take into Consideration the proper Method of raising the
Sum of £ 4000 to pay the Sum agreed to bepaid for the purchase of the said
Ground belonging to Jerviose Clerke Jervoise Esqr. and others and to call in
such Assistance as they shall think necessary and also to prepare an Estimates
of the Expence of carrying such Plan into Execution And that the Magistrates
present and such other Gentlemen as were upon the former Committee and
such other of His Majestys Justices of the peace for this County as may Chuse
to attendbe a Committeeor any five or more of them be a Committee for the
Purposes aforesaid and that they do meet for the first time on Tuesday next
the 17th. Instant and that Notice be sent by Letter to the several Members of the
Committee of the time of Meeting and also that an Advertisement be inserted
in the Daily Advertiser giving notice thereof and the same being
recorded anddebated upon It was unanimously Resolved accordingly

William Mainwaring< no role > Esqr . The Chairman informed the Court That
he had seen the Lord Mayor on the subject of the Vagrants passed from the
City of London into this County and that His Lordship had promised to
Inquire into the manner of passing the Vagrants and that the same should
be Corrected if any thing improper was found to be practised therein.

Resolved that the Committee appointed "to Consider the allegations
"contained in a Petition delivered by Henry Adams< no role > This name instance is in set 1591. Contractor for Conveying
"Vagrants in through and out of this County and all other Circumstances relative
"to the passing Vagrants as they may think proper" be at Liberty to proceed in the
Examination of the matters referred and to adjourn from time to time as they shall
think proper and that John Staples< no role > Esqr . and Nathaniel Conant< no role > Esqr . two of His
Majestys Justices of the peace for this County be added to the said Committee

Mr Bond willing
to give up Tap
but requests leave
to retain the
Cellars

It being represented to the Court that Mr Richard Bond< no role > the present Tenant of the
Tap of the New Prison at Clerkenwell was willing to give up the House rented by him
of this County but requested that he might be permitted to retain the Use of the Cellars
belonging to the same all Communication from the said Cellar with the Prison being
