And having read Mr Harwoods Petition and examined the Accounts
in the said Petition referred to and within which Accounts Mr.
Harwood is ready to make Oath are included all Emoluments
Advantages Perquisites and Profits of any kind whatsoever which
he or any one for him has received or taken by virtue of his Office
It appears to Your Committee That the Profits of the Governour
of the House of Correction arise by Fees by the accomodation of
Prisoners with Lodging and Beds and by Copies of Commitments
That the Expenditures are made in Wages to Servants necessary
for the Government of the Prison and in incidental Charges of trifling
matters for the accomodation of Prisoners

That from the 3d. day of March 1783 ( the day on which
Mr Harwood entered into the execution of his Office to the 2d. day
of March 1784 inclusive being one Year the Receipts in his Office
appear to be£386..0..9

The expenditures within the same time £217..15..10

That at the time Mr Harwood came into Office the fee
for the discharge of every Prisoner was 7th) but that by an Order
of Court bearing date the 1st. day of May 1783 this fee was reduced
to 5s/6d. and that such Alteration made a reduction in the receipts
of that year of£47:2..0

That at the time of Mr Harwoods entering into Office he
found Six Servants employed in the Government of the Prison and
a Turnkey That 3 of these Servants had 10s/6d a Week each and three 6s/
each That the Turnkey had half a Guinea a Week and an allowance
of One Shilling out of every fee received for turning the Key. That the
same number of Servants have been since retained by him and the
same allowances have been continued to them

That from the 5th. day of April 1783 there has been also a
Person employed as Task master to take care of the Materials and
superintend the Prisoners who labour at a Weekly Salary of 14s/ being
the allowance usually heretofore made to such Persons as have
been employed in the like service
