By Adjournment Thursday 13th. December 1764

Referrence to the
Tower Division for a
New High Constable
in the room of James
Backhouse Gent.}

Whereas by an order of General Session of the Peace no High Constable within this
County is not to continue in his Office longer than three years unless re-elected by virtue
whereof James Backhouse< no role > Gentleman High Constable of the Eastern Division of the
Hundred of Ossulston called the Tower division who was elected in the Month of
January one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty two will go out of his said Office
in the Month of January next unless re-elected at the next Session of the Peace It is
therefore now ordered that it be and it is hereby recommended and referrd to his
Majesties Justices of the Peace for the said County acting in the said Division
to meet together and Consider of one or more fit and proper Person or Persons to
serve the said Office for the Term of three years from thence next following and to
Return the Name or Names of such Person or Persons to the Court at the said next
Sessions in order that the said Office may be properly served or supplied
