By adjournment on Thursday the twenty third
Day of May 1751

It is Ordered that Mr. Higgs be desired from this Court to
apply to the Secretary of the Right Honble the Lord High
Chancellor of Great Britain, and desire Copys of the
Affidts. made on Behalf of Sr. Samuel Gower< no role > Knt . one of
the Justices of the peace of this County.

By adjournment On Thursday the 23d. day of May 1751.

This day being appointed for the election of a Keeper of New Prison at
Clerkenwell in this County (the place of Keeper of the said Prison being
vacant and one William Pentlow offering himself and praying that
he may be appointed Keeper of the said Prison This Court is of
Opinion that the said William Pentlow< no role > be appointed Keeper Upon
Condition that he do keep his Constant residence at the said Prison
and well and truly perform and execute the said office place or
employment of Keeper in his Own Person and not by Deputy and
pay the yearly sum of ten pounds to the Matron of the said House
of Correction at Clerkenwell by quarterly payments and Also at his
charge do the small Repairs such as Screwing, entying, cleansing and
Glazeing to the said Prison, And also pay the yearly Sum of twenty pounds
to the Treasurer of this County on Account of doing grand or Other repairs
to the said prison if the Court shall find such repairs Necessary to be done
or otherwise to be subject to the order of the Court touching the Disposal
thereof and pay the Fines to be received by him to the Sheriff or his Agent
and pay such fees as he shall receive for the Clerk of the Peace of this
County to the Clerk of the peace or his Deputy and also give Bond
himself in the sum of two hundred pounds and two Suretys each in
one hundred pounds unto Thomas Lane< no role > Esqr . George Cooke< no role > Esqr . Luke
Robinson Esqr. And Henry Butler< no role > Pacey Esqr . Justices of the Peace of
this County for his performance of the Matters above mentioned before
any Deed of Appointment be delivered to the said William Pentlow< no role > to
be keeper of New Prison aforesaid.
