The Information of Charles Samuel Man Apprentice to
William Stock< no role > of Bishop Street in the City of London
Linen Draper and Elizabeth Baylis< no role > of Little Saint
Helens in the said City Widow taken before us John Staples< no role >
and Samuel Hawkins< no role > Esquires two of His Majesty's Justices
of the Peace in and for the said County the 30th December 1785

Who being on their Oaths say and Fast the said Charles Samuel
[..] of saith that on Saturday the Twenty Fourth day
of December Instant Between the Hours [..]
in the Evening as he this Informant was giving Customers
in the Shop of his said Master Situate in Bishopgate Street in
the City of London a Quantity of Goods being then lying on the
Counter The Person now present who say his Name is Thomas
Edwards came into the said Shop and asked if Mr. James lived
therethisThat he this Informant answered no and after
Ringing the Shop [..] his Master to come and serve one
of the Customers in the Shop he turned [..] and saw the
said Thomas Edwards< no role > running out of the Shop and
immediately missed the Goods that were lying on the Counter
as aforesaid upon which he Alarmed his Master but
the said Thomas Edwards< no role > thegot clear off with part of
the said Goods having Dropped Eight Calicco Gown
Pieces at the Shop door the Goods taken away consist of
Eleven Callico Gown Pieces three Muslin Shawls, two Muslin
aprons, one half Muslin Handkerchief and about three
Yards of Printed Called The Value of all which Goods 30 Stole
About Twenty Eight Pounds.

And the said Elizabeth Bayles for Herself saith that
She was in the Shop of the said William Stock< no role > and
saw the Person now present who says his Names
Thomas Edwards< no role > come into the said Shop in the Names
Hated by the said Charles Samuel Marr and saw Ann
go out of the same with a Bunndle of Goods under by
Arm-Saw him drop part of them at the Door, and
that she has notting Doubt as to the Identity of
his Person.
