Philips taken before me this 14th. day of March
1780
Who being upon Oath saith and first the said John Hooper< no role >
saith
that he is a Linen Draper
and lives in Ludgate Street
in the City of
London Saith that a person now present who calls himself David Davis< no role >
lived with him for about Six Years past as a Journeyman
to him
Saith that he hath frequently missed different Articles and
suspected the said David Davis< no role >
had robbed him Saith that he
this day searched the Great Coat pocket of the said David Davis< no role >
which was put in a Compter
in this Informants Shop and
found concealed therein a piece of Linen which he is very
sure is his property and was feloniously Stolen from him as aforesaid by
the said David Davis< no role >
Saith that he is also very sure
three other pieces of Linen now produced an his property and
were stolen from him within a Week past by as he verily
believes the said David Davis< no role >
And the said Percival
Philips for himself saith that he this day apprehended the
said David Davis< no role >
and in the Compter of the Shop of the said
John Hooper< no role >
he found a Great Coat now produced the property
of the said David Davis< no role >
and in the pockets of the same
he found four pieces of Linen now produced and the said John
Hooper for himself further saith that the said four pieces of Linen are his property
and were Stolen from him within about a Week past
