James Bourdieu< no role > of London Merchant one of the
Prosecutors in this Cause maketh Oath that he having
been advised that it would be necessary on the Trial of this
Indictment to prove that the Ship the Felicite in the said
Indictment: [..] med Sailed From the Port of Figuellar in
France on or about the third day of July last for
London without any Lading on board her he this
Deponent some Months ago wrote over to his
Correspondent Simon Berord< no role > Merchant at Honfleur
in France near Figuefleur to procure one of the
French Kings Officers at Figuefleur to come over to
England for that purpose and which the said
Mr. Berard by Letters acquainted this Deponent
he would do and that one or more of the French
Kings Officers of the Customs at Figuafleur would on
due notice come over to this Kingdom for that
purpose And this Deponent saith that he accordingly on
the twenty ninth day of December last wrote to the
said Mr. Berard to send such Officer over here
by the Fourteenth of January Instant to give his Evidence upon
such Trial but this Deponent saith that owing as he
believes to the late Severity of the Weather the regular
Course of the Mails to and from France hath been
obstructed and by means thereof he hath not yet
received any Answer from the said Mr. Berard to
