Nathaniel Lucas< no role > of Bush Lane Cannon Street London
Merchant one of the Prosecutors above mentioned Maketh Oath
that he having Yesterday and not before received Information
which this Deponent believes to be true that the Goods Specifyed
in the Indictment in this Cause of the Value of one thousand
Pounds and upwards were on the Day therein mentioned Carryed
to the House of a Person against whom this Deponent hath this
Day thereupon obtained a Warrant from the Right Honourable the
Lord Mayor of London This Deponent [..] made Inquiry after
him at his place of Abode but Could not meet with him And this
Deponent Saith that the person against whom he hath so Obtained
such Warrant did as he this Deponent is Credibly Informed and
believes receive the same knowing them to be Stolen And this
Deponent further Saith that he Yesterday and not before received
an Account of another Person whom this Deponent is Credibly
Informed and believes is a Material Witness for the Prosecution
in this Cause without whose Testimony this Deponent cannot
Safely proceed to Tryall but that such Person is now in Holland
and expected back in about a fortnights Time So that this
Deponent Cannot have him for a Witness at this Session but is
well Assured and believes he shall be able to produce him at
the next Session and will Use his Utmost Endeavours so to do
And this Deponent is advised and believes that if the Name of such Witness should be hereby Disclosed he shall be defeated of getting him at the next Session And further Saith that if this Honourable Court should be
pleased to postpone the Tryall of the said Defendants till the
next Session this Deponent verily believes he shall not only be
able to have Sufficient Evidence against them but also to
Apprehend and Convict the Accessary against whom he hath
this Day obtained such Warrant as aforesaid in both which
