Informed by the said Scruton that he came to receive the same for
some Freind of his, Deponent told the said Scruton that the Bill
was not due upon which the said Scruton sayd to this Deponent it
is usuall among ourselves to Pay such Bills before due or used
words to that Effect and thereupon this Deponent not then
Suspecting that the said Scruton came frandalently by the said
Bill gave him a Tickett for the Money as is usuall in such Cases
and thereupon the said Scruton Witnessed the said Bill and
afterwards this Deponent Cancelled the same and beleives the
Moneywas receivedwas received by the said Scruton And these
Deponents Blackmore and Greenough each Speaking for
himself Say that the said Bill appears to be Indorsed by Robert
Farmer

and Samuel Sheppard< no role > And this Deponent Samuel DedSaith
upon his Oath Saith that he was Advised by Severall Eminent
Council at a Cousultation on the second Day of this Instant
July that as the Indersments were in Blank and not proper
to be fillled up in a Prosecution for a Capitall Felony it was necessary
that the said Farmer, Ten penny, Small Freeman & Sheppard
should be produced as Witnesses at the Tryal Order to Prove,
the property of the said Bill in the said Sawbridge and Company
who Deposited the said Bill with the Bank or to that effect and
this Deponent waited upon the Directors of the Bank the next
day being the third day of this Instant July and acquainted them
herewith who Informed this Deponent (and this Deponent
beleives the same to be true) that they did not know whereany of the
Indorsors (except Sheppard) lived and this Deponment William
Sawbridge upon his Oath Saith that on the fourth day of this Instant
July this Deponent was sent for by the Directors of the Bank and
asked if he knew the Indorsors of the said Bill where to this Depont.
Answered (as the Truth was) that he beleived Samuel Sheppard< no role >
the last Indorser lived in Wiltshire being so Informed by one Mr. Willett
but that he did not know the said Samuel Sheppard< no role > or any of the other
Indorsors and this Deponent William Sawbridge< no role > further Saith that at
