NB:


This Pearce became a Prisoner for Debt in the Woodstreet Compter on or abt: 19 Dec 1739 on the 4 June last Deft Wood charges him
with a Capias his own Suit for a Debt of £190 upon promise on 6 June in the Night Pearse breaks the Goal & escapes & was not retaken before
9: Augt: In the Mean time Wood brought Acton agt: the Sherriffs of London to recover his Debt for letting him Escape which is now
depending So that we apprehand Wood charged him wth: this Debt one Day contrived his Escape the next in order to make it a good
Debt from the Sherriffs
