Whereas Complaint hath been made unto Us two of
His Majesties Justices of the Peace for this City and the
Liberties there of (one being of ye Quorum) by You the Churchwardens
and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of St Buttolph
without Bishopsgate London That Peter
Lewis, and his three Children to Wit Peter Aged twelve
Yeares Thomas aged three yeares & Ann aged Six
Weeks on thereabouts are
lately come to reside in your said Parish not having obtaind any
Legal Settlement there and are likely to become chargeable
thereto unless timely prevented Which Complaint we judge to
be true and for as much as it appears unto Us by the Oath of
Catherine Wise< no role > that about thirty five Years ago she was present in the Lodging room of
Elizabeth Lewis< no role > Scituate in shoe Lane in the parish of St Bridgett otherwise Bride London
in which roome the said Elisabeth Lewis< no role > was then in Childbed & as the believes delivered
on a male Child afterwards Baptised by the Name of Peters always apprehended the sd Peter
Lewis the Father to be born of the body of the sd Elizabeth in Shee Lane aforesd & that She was
God mother & present at the Christening the sd Peter Lewis< no role > the Father at the Church of St Brides
aforesdAnd no other Subsequent Settlement appearing unto Us We the
Said Justices are of opinion and do Adjudge the last Legal
Settlement of the said Peter Lewis< no role > & his Children Peter< no role > Thomas< no role >
and Ann< no role >
to be in the said Parish of St Bridgett otherwise Brides London
And that thitherto they ought by Law
to be sent

These are therefore in his Majesties Name to Will and
Require You the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of
the said Parish of St Buttolph without Bishopsgate
London forthwith to Remove and Convey the said Peter
Lewis & his Children Peter Thomas & Anne
from and out of your said Parish unto the said Parish of St
Bridget otherwise Bride London
And them deliver unto the Churchwardens and Overseers
of the Poor there or one of them Who is and are hereby required
to Receive and Provide for her according to Law Given
under our hands and Seals this 12thday of June
In the Year of our Lord 1734
