Wehreas Jane Myers< no role > Widow was oner about
the 22d day of August last delivered of a Male Bastard
Child in the Parish of St James Dukes place in the City
of London which sd Make Bastard Child is already
become Chargeable to the sd Parish and is likely so to
continue Therefore toee whose Names are hereunto
Set two of his Majestys Justices of the peace for the
said City of London and Liberties thereof (One being
of the Quorum) and both of us resideing near unto
the Limitts where the Parish Church of the sd Parish
of St James Dukes Place London Standeth Having
upon the Complaint of the Churchwardens and
Overseers of the Poor of the Parish aforesd taken
upon Us the Wearing and Examinantion of the Cause
and Circumstances of the Premisses Defind by
the Examinetion of the Said Jane Myers< no role > taken upon
her oath that one Martus De Costa< no role > of the Minories
in the parish of ST Battolph without Aldgate London
is the true Father of the sd Male Bastard Child
Whereupon Wede adjudge that the sd Martus De Costa
is the reputed Father of the sd Male Bastard Child And
We do Order that the said Martus Decoster< no role > shall on Sight
of this our Order pay or Cause to be paid unto the
Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of Said
Parish of St James Dukes place London Some or one of
them the Same of Two pounds Nine Shillings of Lawfull
Money of Great Writtain so much being Sworn to be
Expeaded for and towards the Maintenance of the
Said Male Bastard Child and other Incident Charges
and Expences relateing thereto And also that the said
Martus De Costa shall on Wednesday in every Week
from and after the date hereof so long as the Sd Male Bastard
Child shall Continue Chargeable to the sd Parish pay or
Cause to be paid unto the Churchwardens & Overseers
of the Poor of the sd Parish or to one of them the Sume
of two Shillings and Six pence of like lawfully Money
for and towards the Maintenance & keeping of the said
Male Bastard Child In Witness whereof We the said
Justices have unto this our order Set our hands this
Eleventh day of October in the Year of our Lord 1788
