This Examinant [..] saith yt yesterdaylast nightbeing ye
Twenty Second day of January one Frances Underwood< no role > , came
to his Master John Purkiss< no role > , in Norton Folgate , & told him she
had a Lettr to send to a Clergyman dwelling& belonging
to st Hellens Parish, & desir his to come to her Lodging in Rope-
makers ally near Moor Feilds, at Six a clock at night & he went
to her accordingly, & she delivered his a Lettr which was not
sign'd yt he read ye same it being neithr Signd Seals nor directed,
yt she gave his direction where to find ye sd Clergyman & what manner
of person he was yt the usualy were a suit of Black Clothes wth a Cane is his
hand, yt she had mett his severll times in ye street in his Rebes, & once
particularly at Mr Gills [..] Founders in Thompsons Rents yt afterwards he
came to her Lodgings severll times, yt last [..] night he did meet a young
woman at her Lodging which is at Mr Hodges [..] next ye Falding
hatch. yt she desired him to carry ye said Letter, & by ye description
she gave him he found at Mr Ptolomey James< no role > ye Minister of St
Hellens & he realy beleives he is ye Gentleman she described to him,
yt she beleived he would make all things easy. which he beleives was
meant yt she expected some Money to be sent to her yt he took
ye Lettr of her, (which is ye same her hath affixt his name to new before
me) & Crott it this morning to ye Apartmt if ye sd Mr James
in Gresham Colledge, & delivered the same to him, & told him it
was for him, & [..] his remember where he was last night

abovesaid Lettr was wrote wth his aprobation, & direction, by one Thos Mander< no role > who works
with his Master [..] chiss in Nortan Folgate: & yt he is very sury he hath hereby
done any thing whereby to fix any slawer an ye Reverd Mr Ptolomey James, & on his
knees begs his Pardan for Gods Sale
