The Examinacon of John Hawkins< no role > als Carter< no role >
taken before Me Sr Richard Hoare< no role > Knt Lord
Major of the City of London the 27th day of July 1713

This Examinant saith that about five weekes Since this
Examinant meeting with one Hawkins a Farrier by Cook
time in Ratcliffe near the free Schoole the said Hawkins
asked this Examinant whether he knew where to gett a
horse and told this Examinant he would give him Six pence
if he would bring one to him whereupon this Examinant
went to Smithfeild and findingan horsea bay Mare standing at
the Rayles there with the bridle over his head near the
Grey hound Taverne this Examinant gott upon his back
and rode away with him and carried him to the sd Hawkins
who thereupon gave this Examinant Six pence
And this Examinant further saith that about a month
Since this Examinant standing at the sd Hawkins's
Shop the said Hawkins asked this Examinant if he
could go and gett a horse promising him Six pence if
he would bring one to him whereupon this Examinant
went into Smithfeild and unloosedan horsewhite Mare that was
tyed to one of the Rayles [..] there and rode away
with it and carried it directly also to the said Hawkins
who gave this Examinant six pence And this Examint.
further saith that meeting with the said Hawkins this
Morning he againe asked this Examinant to gett him
another horse whereupon this Examinant went to
Smithfeild and unloosed a Dun Mare that was tyed
to one of the Rayles there and was riding away with
her in order to carry her to the said Hawkins but
was Stopt and apprehended at the end of Long Lane
