The Informacon of Samll. Hart< no role > Jun Mercht . taken upon Oath this
Sixth day of January Anno Din 1699.

This Informant deposeth that abt. the Month of September 1698 Thomas Sedgwick< no role > John Holley< no role > [..]
& Ann< no role > his Wife did apply themselves to this Informt: & acquaint him that a Gentl whose Named
they asserted to be Boy hurst Spencer & was a Man of a very considerable Fortune & was
likewise then lately married to one Mr Lugg the late Wife of Richard Lugg gentl
decd who was lost worth £14000: at least as they acquainted this Informt. had then
Occacon for some money & did request this Informant to assist him wth some whereupon
this Informt. did make what Inquiry he could after ye Sd Boghurst Spencer & could not
hear any ill character of ye Sd Boghurst Spencer< no role > & finding yt. he was Soe married this
Informt. was prvailed on & did assist him wth Severall times of money & credited
[..] for the value of abt. £2000 & this Depont: has taken Securitys from ye Sd Boghurst
Spencer by that Name for his Sd money And this Informt. Saith that Since he husted
ye Sd Boghurst Spencer as aforesd he bad left his Habitacon & does abscond & this
Informant his Just reason to beleive that he shall loose his Sd Debt & Saith that Since
ye Sd Boghurst Spencer has absconded he upon Inquiry made does find that ye Said
Persons [..] true Name is William Boghurst< no role > & not Boghurst Spencer & that the Sd
Person is publickly & Notoriously browne by the Name of William Boghurst to be
a Handolous notorious Creat & has been browne to be See abt. this Towne for
Severall years past And Saith that he changed his Name as aforesd for noe other
End nor purpose whatsoever but that by the Subsistence & combinacon of ye Sd
Thomas Sedgwick< no role > John Holley< no role > & Ann his Wife he might without being discovered
theat & defraud this Informt. & severall other Persons of whom he has borrow [..]
severall other Sumes of money & is indobted to ye Value of abt: £2000: or thereabts.
as this Depont. is informed & verrily beleives And this Informt. deposeth that he
has Seen Severall Writeings under the Sd Persons hand by the Name of William
Boghurst wth this [..] Informt. can the better Depose for that he is not only credibly
informed by others that they are his owne Writeing but this Informant does
very well brow & is acquainted himself wth his hand Writeing And saith that
the Sd Person who now goes by ye Name of Boghurst Spencer is browne by
very many of the Inhabitants of St. Gyles's pish to be Same Person
whose true Name is William Boghurst where he lived formerly for seven
yearsAnd saidAnd Saith that the Sd Tho: Sedgwick has longly served to this Informt
that the sd Persons [..] true Name is William Boghurst< no role > & not
Boghurst Spencer< no role >
