Upon the petition & appeale of this Churchwardens Overseers &
Parishioners of the Parish of St. Ethelbury
to be releived from a rate
imposed on the Parish by a late Act of Comon Councell made for sething
the Poore on worke by a mistake commited by the Clerke of their Parish
in return to a prcept made relateing thereto Itt is ordered That Sr

be desired to Examine the said matter And reporte
their opinions therein to his Maties Justices of the Peace
att the Guildhall
on Fryday the 20th. of January instant That Such Order may be then made
therein as shall be inst

Janry the 12th. 1698
Pursuant to the order abovewritten we have Examined
the matter of the peticonr and finde that whereas there
was reterned by the parish of St. Ethelburge
as theire poore
rate for one yeare the sume of One hundred Thirty three pounds and foure
pence, Now upon pervsall of their bookes there appears to be
noe more then Forty five pounds one shilling and Tenn pence
halfe penny [..] Therefore weare humbly of Opinion
yt the said parrish ought to be relieved [..]
[..] and pay noe more then twenty
two pounds Tenn shillings and Eleaven pence Farthing the
Sauld being a full halfe yeares rate yearly paid to the poore
of that parish wth. Submittt the day & yeare above written
