September 1789.
Who being on Oath says that on that 5th. day of
August last about Eight oClock in the Evening as his Master
was returning to Town from Epping
in his Carriage, this
Informant being behind the same,thatsoon after the Carriage
had pass'd through Balls pond Turnpike and was Proceeding
towards Islington
, the Coachman who drove the same was
Ordered to stop by three Men, but not stopping immediately, one
of said Men who is now present and calls himself John Wright< no role >
Seized one of the Horses and stop'd the Carriage, and another
[..] of the said men who is also now present and calls
himself William Charlton< no role >
otherwise Charrington
came to this Informant and pull'd him Off from behind
the Carriage, that they then went to the Door of the Carriage
and demanded his Masters Watch and Money which
verily believes he gave at them he [..] , that the Carriage then Passed on without
this Informantthat the Prisoner William Charlton< no role >
Otherwise Charrington< no role >
, return'd to this Informant from the
Carriage door, and Presented [..] a Pistol to his Breast, Cut made
no demand; but Informant being very much terrified and conceiving
he wanted Money, he gave Said Charlton otherwise Charrington
Nine Shillings and Six Pence in Silver, and Informant then ran to
Over take the Carriage
