Grand Juryman immediately went home and heard
nothing further of the said Business until two or three days
afterwards when he was Informed that the Trial of
the said Richard Macgee had were on and that the
said Richard Macgee had been acquitted by this
Honourable Court in the Absence of the said John Oakes< no role >
and this Deponent and that their Recognizance which
had been so entered into as aforesaid was in Consequence
thereof forfeited and would be Estreated into the Court of
Exchequer in Case this Honourable Court was not pleased
to relieve this Deponent therefrom And this Deponent
further Saith That his said Absence was occasioned
entirely through his Ignorance in not Knowing what
was necessary to be done and relying upon what had
been so told him by one of the said Grand Juryman
in manner aforesaid and which happened wholly
through mistake and not on Account of any favour or
Affection meant or intended to be practised on Shewn to
the said Richard Macgee and without any view
or design whatsoever to present his being convicted
for the said Offence on the Contrary thereof he this
Deponent was Instrumental in assisting in the said
prosecution all in his power and was the principal
Means of the said Richard Macgee being Committed
to take his said Trial for the aforesaid Offence in
which he was Actuated Solely for the purpose of
promoting the ends of public Justice
