One of his Majesty's Justices of the
Peace acting in and for the said
County City & Liberty this 3d. day of
March 1788

This Informant
Who being severally Sworn upon their
Oath says and First this Informant
William Gilgrist< no role > for himself saith that he is
a Muffin Maker< no role > and lives in Pawed Alley
in the Parish of St. James Westminster
that the person said present who calls
himself John Eiles< no role > had been Journeyman
to this Informant about Six Weeks and
Absented himself from his several about
9 OClock and Saturday Night last and
did not come home until between Ten and
Eleven on the Sunday Morning when two
Informant saw him at the Door and thrs.
Infr. further saith that being fastened with
his work he sat himself down by the five
side in the Shop and went to Sleep that
about ten Minutes before he sent down
he had in his Waistcoat Pocket three
Guineas and an half in Gold and
Seven Shillings and Six pence in Silver
that in About half an Hour this Inf.
worker and almost immediately found
that the Money aforesaid had been taken
and of his Waistcoat pocket and carryed
away and that the said John Eiles< no role > was
gone away form the house

And this Inft. Sarah Miller< no role > for herself
saith that she lives Servant with Williams
Gilgrist
< no role > that she was present when John
Eiles
< no role > came home on Sunday Morning
last between Ten and Eleven that she
asked the said John Eiles< no role > where he had
been who replied he had been out all night
